From Munich Airport
From Munich airport to the Station (Hauptbahnhof):
From Munich Airport (Franz Josef Strauss), take the S1 or S8 train (whichever is the first to leave) to the Hauptbahnhof (main station).
The trip will take about 40 mins. The 'Edeka' supermarkets stock cold Augustiner beers to help make the last leg of your journey more enjoyable.
The S-train leaves downstairs from the 'Zentralbereich' (central area) between Terminals 1 and 2. Tickets are available from the machines on the ground floor and also at the Terminal 2 end of the platform. If the ticket fits in the blue stamping machine you must stamp it. If it comes from a newer machine it should have a date and time on it in which case it won’t fit in the slot and you don’t need to stamp it.
The trains run from early early morning to late and usually every 10 minutes. However you can also check train times here:
Ticket prices: It is usually best to get a day pass if you are going to make any other journeys on the day of arrival. At the time of writing (2015) a day pass for all zones (necessary for airport) costs €12 for one adult OR €22,30 for up to 5 adults. A single (not a day ticket) for one adult costs €10.80. Kids under 6 travel for free, kids aged 6-14 pay €1,30 for a single, €2,90 for a day pass.
A Taxi would cost around € 65. (!!!) We can let you know of at least 1000 better ways to spend that money.
From the Station (Hauptbahnhof) to the Hostel:
From the S-Bahn platform at the Hauptbahnhof head for the main hall of the train station (DB/Fernzüge) and then take the exit next to platform 11, turn left onto Bayerstrasse and then take the first right into Senefelderstrasse. The Euro Youth Hostel is about half way down this street on the left.
That's it, you've made it. Time now to drop your bags, unwind, let our staff tell you everything you need to know about the city and the hostel and maybe grab that second augustiner.
