Frequently asked questions

How to reserve – The fastest and cheapest way to book is through this website. Here you have the best rates (guaranteed), best conditions and most availability. There is also NO charge to book. And except at peak periods (eg Oktoberfest) no deposit due.

Groups (of 8 persons or more) should get in touch with us through this form.

Telephone reservations can only be made for the same or next day and only with a vaild credit card (which will be charged and confirmed during the call).

Groups – Thanks for your interest. The Euro Youth is a great place for your group to stay. We are especially suitable for young adults. Large groups of younger children are however probably better off in the hostels of the DJH (German Hostelling International). Please use this contact form for groups (8 people or more). Please note that no information will be given on the telephone about the price and availability for group bookings, they are dealt with by a separate department. Please also note that we reserve the right to cancel any group that is split into smaller groups and booked online under one or various names.

Cancellation – how do I cancel ? Can I cancel ? Cancellations must be made according to your booking. Guests who booked with Hostelworld/Booking.com/Agoda/Airbnb/Expedia must cancel bookings through these sites (according to restrictions). Guests who made a reservation through euro-youth-hotel.de have a cancellation link in their confirmation, otherwise they should contact us by email. Please note the cancellation terms and conditions for your booking. We cannot accept cancellations by telephone.

Modification – If you booked through booking.com then please use booking.com to change your reservation. Otherwise to change a booking please get in touch with us by emailPlease note that not every modification is always possible.

Check IN – all rooms are ready from 2pm on the day of arrival. If you arrive early you can leave your luggage with us and maybe do a free walking tour (meeting at Marienplatz 10:45 am). Reception is open 24 hours so you can check in as late as you like. If you are staying in a shared room though, please try not to check in too late so as not to disturb other guests.

Check OUT – check out is until 11am. After checking out you are welcome to leave your luggage here for the day until you leave the city. Reception is open 24 hours. If you have an early flight it is no problem to leave at 3am.

Luggage storage – We have a luggage storage facility available for guests on the day of arrival and the day of departure. There is a communal luggage room for larger items and there are also small lockers available for valuables (€2 returnable deposit).

Lockers  - We have lockers in all the shared rooms (3/4/5/12 bed). They are free to use but you need a padlock... you can either use your own or you can buy one for 2 EUR at reception (or leave 2 EUR as a refundable deposit). The lockers are large enough for a large rucksack or a medium to good size suitcase.

Safes  - In all private rooms (single/double/twin) there is a safe (as well as a wardrobe). There are also small lockers available on the ground floor. These are also free but you will require a 2 EUR deposit.

Breakfast – A fill-your-boots-all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet is available from 7am to 11am each morning. If you would like a breakfast you can just tell us on the day... the price is EUR 7.90. Vegan options are available.

Laundry – We have 3 washing machines and 3 dryers available for guests. The ‘launderette’ is open 24 hrs, there’s free wifi and it’s not too far away from the bar : ) The price is 4,50 EUR to wash, 2.00 EUR to dry and 50c for detergent.

WiFi – we have free wireless internet access for all guests in all rooms and common areas. We keep it as fast as possible.

Internet terminals  – we have a couple of internet terminals available for those who left their cell phone in the Beerhall.

Kitchen – We are VERY sorry, but draconian health and safety laws in Munich make it impossible for us to offer a guest kitchen. We can offer you a microwave and a kettle (hot water), and free tea.  We can also give you cutlery and crockery. There are many supermarkets nearby and you are welcome to eat any food you bring with you in the common areas (but please not in the shared rooms). Our staff are also always happy to offer advice on restaurants and take-aways to suit all budgets.

For advice on how to get to the hostel please take a look here.

Payment – We accept Cash (Euros only), EC cards and Maestro and Visa, Mastercard and AMEX credit cards. Please note that payment is due on arrival (not departure) unless you have paid in advance. You should also have 2 EUR in cash with you on arrival to leave as a refundable deposit for your key.

Pets – unfortunately we are not allowed to accommodate pets. No exceptions can be made.

Car parking – Our guests receive a special discount in the underground parking lot directly opposite the hostel. 24 hours cost only 14 EUR (a real bargain for central Munich). We unfortunately cannot guarantee that there will be a space available, however it is very rare that there is not. Please note there is a height limit of 2m. Also this price is unfortunately not possible during the Oktoberfest and Expo trade fair. For vehicles over 2m height we would recommend checking out this website https://www.parkopedia.de/ you can use the filter to add the height of your vehicle.

Street parking is free from 11pm to 9am and on Sundays.

Changing money – When you arrive at the hostel we can point you in the direction of nearby exchanges. There are also plenty of ATMs nearby.

Ironing board – we have an ironing board and iron available for our well pressed guests.

Hairdryers and travel adapters - are available at reception for free (10 EUR deposit).

Towels – are included in the price of the ‘private’ (single/double/twin) rooms. Guests in the ‘shared’ (3/4/5/12 bed) rooms can hire a towel at reception for 2.00 EUR.

Reception – is open 24 hours.

I paid a deposit is it refundable if I cancel ? – We are sorry but any ‘deposits’ paid to Hostelworld.com (and other online booking sites) never reach us and as such cannot be refunded by us... maybe you can get a refund through hostelworld.com.

Can you recommend somewhere to Eat / Drink / Party – yes ! we will be delighted to, in fact we dedicate most of our free time to researching this very subject : ) ... please just ask us when you get here.
