Christmas Market
From 25th November until 24th December it's Christmas Market time in and all around Munich and nearby Nuremberg!
Not only does every guest at the Euro Youth Hotel get a free cup of Glühwein (mulled wine) during December, but the receptionists can tell you how to get the most out of the beautiful nearby markets.
In Munich the Marienplatz is host to the traditional Münchener Christkindlmarkt, whilst the Tollwood festival at the Theresienwiese is a much more contemporaray affair with all the traditional trimmings plus live music etc. There are lots more smaller markets scattered throughout the city and surrounds each with their own charm.
In nearby Nuremberg however is the Christmas Market to end all Christmas Markets (the world's biggest). And as Munich station is just one hour away from Nuremberg the Euro Youth Hotel makes a great base to explore both wonderful cities.
Regensburg and Augsburg are also very close by and the beautiful old city centres and stunning cathedrals provide the perfect backdrop for the yuletide markets.
During this time you should add at least an extra day to your planned stay in Munich to take advantage of the seasonal festivities.

Munich is a massively popular destination for New Years Eve party goers.
Every bar, reastaurant and Club has it's own special program ... check out In München for extensive listings (in German but you get a long way with guesswork), and the official city page for some ideas.
